Left Port Hedland and headed to BarnHill Station arrived at 3pm. We turned off North Coast Highway to Barnhill Station on a red dirt corrugated road opening 3 gates as it is a working station. About 39 degrees fairly hot and sweaty.
Hot and sweaty night and because we were on restricted electricity the aircon went off at some time in the morning and it was damn hot. Went for a walk to the beach which was 50 metres away from the park, down a couple of steps past the red dirt sand dunes to white sandy beach and beautiful blue waters.
Kids had a swim and played on the beach and then back to van for dinner. Storyteller Shelby was telling other travellers that she was a twin and then they approached me asking where the other girl was. We then informed them of missy's imagination and story telling.
Packed up at Barnhill to head to Broome got to broome about lunch time and the kids and I headed straight to the pool as it was a bit warm. We had a great site right next to the pool and toilets and it only cost us $231 for the week. Still $33 per night but it has been the cheapest stay we have had and because it is now off peak.
So to me regardless of what everyone else is saying I think we are going to be alright heading up as it will be cheaper...hotter but cheaper and not as busy.
Most of the people we have met are all heading south towards Perth we havent met any families going North. It seems that quite a few people have got to Broome and are staying here. Cant blame them really it is a great park.
Headed into Broome to do a bit of food shopping and check out the town. We found a woolies and a target. We booked Slade in for a haircut at the hairdressers on Thursday morning. Clint set up the tent as he will be sleeping in there with one of the kids when grandma Norma gets here tomorrow.
Just hanging around till grandma gets here at 6pm.
Grandma arrived at 6.30 and we watched the plane land, it was just like the old days when years ago you could watch the planes come in at perth airport . We watched grandma get off the plane and then the kids were yelling out grandma!! grandma!! It was so good to see her and to see the looks on the kids faces. WE dropped her bags at the hotel she booked in for one night and then she came back to the park. The place she stayed at was only around the corner so not far to drop her home.
Went to Malcom Douglas Wilderness Park - Crocodile Park, that was great. There were so many crocs there and some wild thrashing one too. They also had dingoes, red kangaroos, wallaby's, emu's and heaps of ducks.
Slade and Clint are out on the kayaks. Aunty Bec and Uncle Grants sister bindi and dick own a kayak business in broome and they took the boys out for a paddle. Grandma, the girls and I went for swim had a lunch and now Grandma, Isla and Shelby are all snoozing. It is fairly early mornings for us so it gets a bit tiring after lunch.
